Stock Sync

Stock Sync pushes stock levels from MYOB AccountRight into Shopify, so storefront availability matches what’s actually on hand. MYOB is always the source of truth in this flow.

On each run, InSyncer:

  1. Reads current stock from every mapped MYOB location
  2. Refreshes its mirror of your Shopify catalogue (products, variants, locations) for matching
  3. Sums MYOB on-hand across every MYOB location mapped to the same Shopify location
  4. Writes the total to the matching Shopify inventory item

Manual stock edits made directly in Shopify are only overwritten when InSyncer next writes that same item — nothing else touches them in the meantime.

Each Shopify location can have one or more MYOB locations attached, and their stock is summed into a single figure.

Warehouse Main Warehouse + Overflow The two are summed into one figure
Retail floor unmapped No stock is written; existing Shopify quantity is left as-is

One MYOB location can only be mapped to a single Shopify location. Leave a Shopify location unmapped if it shouldn’t be affected by MYOB stock at all — it’s skipped entirely rather than zeroed out.

A manual Sync inventory button on the Location Mapping screen lets you trigger a sync on demand, without waiting for the next scheduled run.

Stock is matched on the MYOB Item Number equalling the Shopify variant SKU, in full — there’s no character-length truncation here (unlike our MYOB Exo connector, which truncates to Exo’s 23-character stock code limit).

If a Shopify variant has Track quantity turned off, InSyncer skips it automatically — that’s Shopify’s own setting, not a separate InSyncer toggle.

Two schedules run independently:

  • Incremental — checks only the MYOB items that changed recently, and skips re-verifying every live Shopify quantity. Fast, and the right choice for routine, frequent syncing.
  • Full reconcile — re-imports the entire MYOB catalogue and re-pushes every mapped SKU/location to Shopify from MYOB, even where quantities already looked correct. Good for a nightly clean-up run that catches anything incremental sync might have missed.

There’s also an MYOB-catalogue-only mode for shops that don’t push stock to Shopify at all, but still want MYOB item data refreshed in the background (for example, to keep order sync’s item lookups current). It’s mutually exclusive with the normal full reconcile — only one or the other runs.

For finished goods that MYOB builds from components (an MYOB Auto-Build item), turning on BOM / Auto-Build changes two things:

  • The stock figure Shopify sees for the finished item becomes what’s already built plus however many more complete kits could be assembled from on-hand component stock.
  • When a Shopify order sells that item, InSyncer first records the MYOB build it needs (if any), then creates the sale for the finished item. If a component is short, the order isn’t sent to MYOB at all — so your accounts never show a sale you can’t actually fulfil.

Stock Sync only writes quantities. Selling price is a separate feature — see Price Sync.
